Learning tarot and want some tips on how to read the cards easily?
...Here I reveal some secrets tarot readers use.
Tarot reading is about entering
into a conversation with the subconscious. Here are 5 secrets Tarot readers use to connect with the cards.
- TAKING NOTICE - Seeing is necessary before speaking. Do not immediately jump into the reading. Instead, stop and look at the
cards drawn. Consider the arrangement of the cards and allow the patterns in
front of you to be revealed. Breathe and relax into the moment and take
notice. Tarot cards are not static and are meant to interact just like we
are. Learning from opposite ends of the spectrum - by studying the basic
meanings and then learning to read them as a group - builds experience in
the mind.
- IDENTIFYING PATTERNS - Identifying the patterns will lead you into the reading.
Search for answers to questions like these:
- What is the prominent theme?
- Are there more sword cards, more wands, more cups,
more coins? What might it indicate to have more of one suit than another?
- Where are the Major Arcana? Are they in key places - part of the foundation cards?
- What spread have you chosen? Are the cards fitting the
nature of the spread? Or does it feel like you have a business spread in a
love reading?
- What numbers are prominent? What colors are prominent? What movement of the characters is
prominent – are they moving in the same direction?
- FINDING THE STORY - Putting a context with the patterns ignites a
reading. Start by locating the theme in the reading – is there sorrow
throughout the cards, joy, action? What is the focus – personal, business,
social? Is there success in the end or is the person in the middle of a
situation that shows an ending in the far distance? Again, take note of the main character in the
reading – there often is one type of card that shows up in duplicate or
triplicate and can be considered the main character. Sometimes there are groups
of people that show up and a character must be identified. How does this character
relate throughout the reading? Are there cards that support him/her or cards
that turn their back on that character? Some readings may have a cast of
characters. Are these family members, fellow employees, or friends of the
client?
If you are having difficulty piecing it all together, relate the situation
you see in the cards to a personal experience – what would the cards mean to
you and how would they speak about your life? The person being read may be a
total opposite to you in appearance and lifestyle but our experiences are truly
what connect us and you can always connect with your client by revealing what
something means to you.
- TRUSTING RESPONSE - Trusting a response zero's in on issues. There is an odd phenomenon that occurs when you read
tarot with your intuition engaged. At some point in the process the basic meaning of the cards can disappear as you
read. It is a place of alchemy where your understanding and knowledge
actually disappears and almost seems irrelevant. This is when your personal connection to the subconscious and inner knowing take
over. TRUST IT! If you keep getting a particular image over and over bring it to
the attention of the client. Tell them what you are getting. In doing so you
trigger your ability to move deeper into the meaning of the reading – keeping
it to yourself blocks your ability to continue the reading.
- FACILITATING - Facilitating is not permission to misuse
information. It is important to remember that when you are using this tool it is not okay
to misuse it for your own purposes. You are merely a facilitator of the
information you are receiving and not the originator of the information. If you
cannot see the information being asked for simply say so. And if you are
receiving information that doesn't seem to fit, then present it to the client as
just that. Recognizing that the cards are simply a tool for the client to
self-analyze
can relieve you of feeling at odds with the act of receiving and giving words to
something that you have no knowledge of and what often is intuition on your
part. What might feel to you as a patchwork of information may very well make
sense to the person in front of you.
Trusting what comes to mind indicates a willingness
to allow the flow of information. When a person sits across from you and
requests a reading they are giving you permission to tap into them and engage in
the flow of energy that comes with that request. A tarot reading is a flow of
information. If you block the flow you dam up the information and the reading
can dry up.
Take
notice, find the story, and trust your response when reading a tarot spread and
not only will you assist the client but you will see a clearer path for yourself
too.
